Fabaceae

37-Herbaceous habit of Lathyrus

[FMP-field: image]

"Papilionaceous" legumes can be herbaceous, shrubs, or trees and occur from the tropics to cold-temperate regions. The genus Lathyrus is commonly called "sweet pea" and the flowers are good examples of this subfamily. NOTE that the banner petal is outside the wing and keel petals.
