50-Free-central placentation

[FMP-field: image]

This is a photo of a fruit of corn cockle (Agrostemma githago). Placentation can usually be deduced from the attachment of the seeds within the fruit. Here this is an example of free-central placentation.

Photo by K. R. Robertson and D. L. Nickrent of plants cultivated at the University of Illinois.
