57-Inferior ovary

[FMP-field: image]

An ovary is said to be inferior when it is situated below the apparent point of attachment of the outer floral parts, as on this close up of a longitudinal section of apple, Malus.

The perianth and androecium are ADNATE to the gynoecium. Relative to the ovary the insertion of the perianth and androecium is epigynous.
