 11-Follicles, Eranthis

This pair of photographs also show follicles. This plant is winter aconite, Eranthis hyemalis.

There are 5 distinct carpels in each flower, and each carpel matures into a follicle. In the top photo, the 5 follicles are not quite mature.

In the bottom photo, the follicles have dehisced, and the small round seeds are visible inside the follicles.
