Ranunculaceae

30-Anemone pulsatilla fruit

[FMP-field: image]

Anemone pulsatilla is the European pasque flower and is very similar to A. patens. This photograph shows developing fruits (each fruit cluster comes from one flower) with the styles elongating. Soon hairs will spread out from the styles and wind will then carry away each fruit separately. The actual fruit is an achene at the base of the style.
