Salicaceae

4-Salix catkins

[FMP-field: image]

The flowers of Salicaceae are imperfect and the plants are dioecious. Both male and female flowers are in catkins. This image shows stems from different plants with male and female catkins. This is the prairie willow, Salix humilis. Most willows produce flowers in early spring before the leave appear.
