Solanaceae

13-Solanum rostratum

[FMP-field: image]

Some members of the genus Solanum are weeds in agricultural fields in Illinois. This species of Solanum (called either S. rostratum or S. cornutum) is commonly called "Buffalo-bur" because of all the prickles. While difficult to see in the photograph, the sympetalous corolla is plicate and the anthers are connivent.
