Here you see Margaret pouring the hot agarose into the casting tray which was assembled using the parts described in the previous picture in the sequence. The glass support is preventing the agarose from leaking out through the holes in the bottom of the tray.
You can see the molten agarose advancing across the surface of the support as it is poured. At room temperature, this gel will have polymerized enough to use within 10-15 minutes. The casting tray could hold 2 gels at once, although only one is being poured at this time.
