Welcome to the Champaign-Urbana National Pollinator Week website!
In 2007, National Pollinator Week was officially declared by the U.S. Senate in order to recognize the importance of pollinators to ecosystem health and agriculture and to support efforts to increase awareness about pollinators.
Thank you to everyone who participate in our 2017 Pollinator Week! A special thanks to Common Ground Food Coop, Sipyard, The Courior Cafe, Pizza M, Delight Flower Farm, the Orpheum Children's Museum, and BeeSpotter for providing pollinator-friendly activities and information!
Don't forget, CU Pollinator Count will be continuing until the end of this summer! Be sure to stop by various parks listed on the website linked to help assess pollinators in our city.
We can't wait to start planning next years activities! Our goal is to:
- Educate members of the community about pollinators and their importance to the ecosystems around us
- Engage and train members of the community in the monitoring and protection of pollinators locally, nationally and globally
- Provide a forum for continuing pollinator awareness and conservation in the community
Throughout National Pollinator Week, the Entomology Graduate Student Association (EGSA) hosts various activities, open to the public. Check back on this website for up-to-date information on times, dates, and locations of these activities for all age ranges!
