Grid maps
In this folder are maps of the grids established in each of the various study sites. As you will see, we used a variety of means of identifying stations. This came about owing to the fact that we approached the study slightly different with each study site and made some changes as we went along. At first there were several grad student using the sites for their Ph D work so we went along with what they suggested. Also the different configurations made for different means of marking sites. Here are some of the explanations of the grids and how they were entered into the raw data files. Except for the short period in BG 7, a 10-m grid interval was used in all sites.
Alf 1-5: All five of these data sets used a column and row indicator. The columns were first entered into the data file (one digit, either beginning with 0 or 1, depending on how many columns there were); the rows within the columns were recorded as two digits (01-14, depending on how many stations in each column).
BG 6, 9, 10, 11. These are parts of the large site in Phillips tract. B 6 was the entire area trapped until 1977; 9 was the south half used in the Mo removal study (Mp alone) 1977-1987; 10, the north half was the Mp removal site (Mo alone) used from 1977-1997; 11 was the south half used as the regular BG (Mo and Mp) site from 1987-1997. The stations were numbered sequentially up and back down the rows, from 1-225.
BG 7 was the 0.8 ha site trapped as the main BG site from 1977-1987. From 1977-Oct 1080 we used a 10-m grid with stations number sequentially up and back down rows, form 1-72. From Nov 1980-July1983 we used a 5-m grid (another study was on-going, thus a 5-m grid), with columns numbered 01-17 and rows 01-15 (columns were entered in the data files only as 1-15; no 0s in front of 1-9). From August 1983-1987 we used a 10-m grid, but retained the column/row designators as with the 5-m grid, using odd numbers for each column and row.
BG 8. The stations were numbered sequentially 1-60 up and back down the rows.
TG TR. (12, 14, 18). All three sites were within the general site in Trelease Prairie. TG 12 encompassed the entire site; 14 and 18 used part of the site to the south. The original grid station numbers were retained in all three sites. The stations were numbered sequentially up and back down the rows.
TG 13, 15, 17, 18. The stations in these two sites were numbered sequentially from 1-47, up and back down the rows, as indicated.
