Here you see dehiscing follicles of Asclepias syriaca. Each seed has a coma of hairs to aid in wind dispersal. Usually only one ovary per flower, and often only one per inflorescence, matures into a follicle. To compensate for so few fruits produced per plant, each fruit contains a large number of seeds.
