This information applies only to the Asclepiadaceae in the strict sense (not including the Apocynaceae). The Asclepidaceae is found nearly worldwide, but is especially diverse in tropical regions, with centers of diversity in South America and in southern Africa. There are about 250 genera and 2,000 species. |
