The Malvaceae is found nearly worldwide; it is especially diverse in the American tropics. There are about 80 genera and over 1,000 species. The textbook by Judd et al. include the related Tiliaceae, Sterculiaceae, and Bombaceae in an expanded Malvaceae. |
