Polygonaceae

There are about 50 genera and 1000 species in the Polygonaceae. Most occur in north temperate regions, although the family as a whole is nearly cosmopolitan in distribution, with some occurring in subtropical and tropical areas.

Some plants of economic importance in the Polygonaceae include buckwheat (Fagopyrum) and rhubarb (Rheum).
